Liability Policy

  1. DC Farrier Services Inc. provides services as stated in the sales agreement contract in a reliable and trustworthy manner.
  2. DC Farrier Services Inc. is committed to providing a gentle, kind and confident approach to handling horses.
  3. DC Farrier Services Inc. is not responsible for any damage caused by the horse while the farrier is present.
  4. DC Farrier Services Inc. is not responsible for any injury which the horse has caused to himself, another horse or persons while the farrier is present.
  5. Every effort is made to be careful but accidents do happen. If such an event such as structural damage should take place by one of our vehicles, notification to the management must be made within 24 hours of the last scheduled service date and time. Damage claims will be settled at current fair market value upon completion of brief investigation and report.
  6. DC Farrier Services Inc. is not responsible for lost or stolen articles unless it is deemed a situation of gross negligence on the part of the DC Farrier Services Inc. staff.

General Business Policy

  1. Our promise is to always treat your horse as we would treat our own horses. Every horse, regardless of age, use or price, is worthy of the very best care and respect. We provide a kind, gentle approach to handling horses. Our aim is to ensure the services provided are a pleasant experience for owner, horse and farrier.
  2. The owner or caregiver handling the horse must be a competent adult and must be present while the horse is being worked on. We reserve the right to refuse service in an unsafe environment and/or if an appropriate horse handler is not present.
  3. The farrier should be notified of any behavioural or foot issues the horse may have before work begins.
  4. DC Farrier Services Inc. reserves the right to refuse service on a horse that may be deemed unsafe to work on and/or unable to lift its feet as required for the farrier to provide appropriate service. If we are to work on such a horse, the caregiver will be required to tranquilize the horse before work can commence.
  5. The caregiver of the horse is responsible to provide and administer all sedatives to their horses.
  6. We require and expect a clean, level and safe work space out of the wind, rain and the cold. If the weather is hot, a shelter should be provided for the farrier to work under to prevent heatstroke. Work done during cold winter months should be in a heated or semi heated barn if it is too cold to do the work outside. If the weather is too cold to work in, we reserve the right to reschedule the appointment for a warmer day.
  7. We aim to be on time to each appointment. If we are unable to do so due to unforeseen circumstances, the client will be contacted and informed of the farrier's expected arrival time.
  8. DC Farrier Services Inc. cannot guarantee prompt scheduled arrival due to extreme weather conditions. If this occurs we reserve the right to reschedule our regular scheduled appointment to an alternate (me without penalty. Keeping our team safe is a huge priority for us!
  9. Shoes – For our clients on monthly service packages, shoes are guaranteed until the next scheduled shoeing. Should a shoe come off or is bent, we will schedule a time for replacement to be done within 48 hours.
  10. For clients receiving Stand Alone Services, shoes are guaranteed for 4 weeks. On the occasion that a shoe becomes bent or falls off we will fix or replace it at no extra charge within 48 hours.
  11. The horse being worked on should be caught and ready to go when the farrier arrives.
  12. We will work with, and through your local veterinarian and equine therapists and encourage you to call them as required.
  13. DC Farrier Services Inc. provides Emergency Call Services and, occasionally, a regular scheduled appointment may have to be rescheduled in order to accommodate emergencies. On the rare occasion that this happens, it is our commitment to our clients to reschedule within 3 to 5 days.
  14. DC Farrier Services Inc. does not provide service during what is considered stat-holidays. If a regular pre-scheduled service visit falls on such a day, we will reschedule for the first available time slot.

Booking & Cancellation Policy

  1. As a regular practice we require a deposit of one month's fees for clients on our Service Packages. This is to be provided to cover our labour and administration costs associated with the preparation of a first service visit to a new client. This fee is refundable should the client decide to no longer receive our services. Cancellation of services must be stated in writing by letter or email.
  2. Cancellation of a pre-scheduled service visit must be made at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. If this cannot be provided, the client may be subject to a cancellation and rescheduling.
  3. DC Farrier Services Inc. reserves the right to deny or terminate service where there are perceived safety concerns, financial concerns, inappropriate conduct or what is deemed uncomfortable environments.
  4. Calls for service that are outside of our regular service package program will be charged as a single call and are subject to regular mileage charges unless the client is paying a flat monthly fee (see service descriptions). Our regular service area radius is 30km from Calgary city limits. Destinations outside of this radius will be charged $0.60 per km.

Payment

  1. DC Farrier Services Inc. requires an initial booking deposit (First month) before any Equine Care Service Package schedule is established or service commencement.
  2. We have provided flexible payment options for our clients. Please feel free to ask about our great full service Equine Care Packages which provide consistent care and are very cost effective.
  3. Payment in full is required upon completion of any services requested. In the case of monthly payments for service packages, we ask that all payments be made on the date initially agreed upon. If this cannot be accomplished, the client is responsible for any late payment or interest charges that may occur.
  4. Payment for services can be made by: Cash, etransfer, Visa, Master Card or American Express.
